Welcome to The Sunflower Village.
Each of us have our strengths, areas of interest, things we love to do, and those that we don’t, and of course, we all experience challenges, some more than most. What we all need is someone willing to truly listen, observe, reflect and connect with us for who we are, and this is critical for all children and families.
Working with children and families over the past 15 years has highlighted:
the importance of building positive, collaborative relationships with families, children and educators;
the significance of wellbeing;
the diverse learning needs of children and how to be creative in understanding these needs in a kindergarten and school context;
the benefits of positive and effective transitions; and
why school readiness is not simply about academics.
We want all children to experience a positive start to kindergarten and primary school. We want them to feel safe, secure and experience a sense of belonging.
At the heart of The Sunflower Village is a deep commitment to celebrating each child’s unique personality, strengths and challenges. The Sunflower Village is a space grounded in the belief that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and understood.
Working collaboratively with families and educators provides continuity and connection, giving children every chance to thrive.
The Sunflower Village is here to help.
Education Transitions
Transitions for any of us can be difficult, regardless of age and stage. When it comes to understanding and navigating starting at an early childhood service or primary/secondary school, particularly if we have a child who is neurodiverse or who has challenging behaviours, the process can often be overwhelming for children and families.
Care Team Co-ordinator
From advocating for the right supports for your child, to understanding individualised learning plans, navigating the unexpected territory of finding specialists for referrals, this can often be an overwhelming time, and this is where The Sunflower Village can help.
School Ready?
When to send your child to primary school is not always a straight forward decision. Discussions with Kindergarten Teachers and multiple school tours can lead to more questions about what is best for your child.
